Think the Southern Brave may well have the best team, i really wanted andre russell after watching every game he's played in the IPL over the last couple of years.

Did quite enjoy the whole draft process although they dragged it on way too long with unnecessary breaks between rounds. and it kind of petered out a bit when it got lower down and as someone who doesnt follow county cricket really closely you stop knowing who some of the players are.
Not to keen on "my" Birmingham Phoenix team, seems full of all rounders without many actual specialists, again i don't know much about some of the names that were chosen lower down, Spending the 125k spot on Liam Livingstone seemed like a bizarre choice too.

The English players are obviously not that highly regarded given the number of Kolpacks selected.

I understood the England Test players would only be available for the first 10 days as they then start a Test series. Not sure if the Lords team had a choice but presume they took Burns as they know he will go away and they can replace him with a white ball player.

Re: The Hundred (Cricket)

50 over domestic competition takes place whilst the 100 is on.
The year after England finally win the 50over one day World Cup in that format the ECB decide to make it a 'developmental' competition for the counties with the final to be held away from Lord's for the first time ever.
Many England players will now play no 50 over cricket whatsoever for their county.
The 100 concept was dreamt up by a Doris.
It's led to Rory Burns (who hardly ever plays for Surrey in T20) getting a gig with London Spirit.
Lunatics have won. The county game is doomed.

Yeah its a tough one, need to try and get a decent mixture of popular players from each county if they're going to want people to follow them.

Cool story, bro
Can understand the ECB wanting a 5 week t20 competition with big names in it but they seem to have over thought it trying to be COOL. And not spoken to ANYONE who is actually a current fan especially a county fan. The football equivalent would be to have a North London 5 a side team and expect Arsenal and Spurs fans to come together to support it

That's actually probably the most irritating part of it - we finally get fifty over cricket right..... then we drop it.

Re: The Hundred (Cricket)

I read an article on this and they had some quotes from some ECB dude who was saying something along the lines of that they were trying to come up with something "cool" for people who weren't diehard fans. Those people already thought that the currently available formats were "cool" but they were trying to attract a new audience who would think this was "cool" because it is something a bit different, and "cool".
Now, I don't claim to be an expert, but I'm pretty sure that just repeating the word "cool" doesn't make the product actually "cool".

Im in Worcester and it may well be a struggle to support the Birmingham team but they've done a decent job by taking Worcester's 2 biggest starts in Moeen and pat Brown to go with Warwickshire's Chris Woakes.
The tournament is around my birthday next year so may well try and get tickets for one game and have a night out in Birmingham afterwards or something but I won't be travelling to Birmingham regularly to watch it.

Did I read somewhere that your 50 over comp is now going to be a development level one,
Yes, that is correct.
As others have said, no interest in the 100. No Essex, nobody to support, no interest.

Even just looking at the Worcestershire CC FB page where they announced the signings, there wasn't a single comment in support of the whole concept.
Plenty of people suggested they would never support anything involving Warwickshire (the Bear cunts), nor anything to do with Birmingham itself (what a shithole).
Having seen the comments on here about it too, you'd have to imagine that the same opinions prevail around the country.
I can't see how it's going to make any headway really.
Did I read somewhere that your 50 over comp is now going to be a development level one and all the top players will be doing this Hundred bollocks instead?

Re: The Hundred (Cricket)

I’m not sure anyone ever said a t20 was too long and the 10 balls from each end and bowlers being able to bowl 5 or 10 balls in a row will just seem odd.
But if they are putting on cricket matches and Stokes , Kohli , Smith , Archer etc are playing people will turn out to watch. That said I think we are approaching peak t20 interest and too much more will be too much. As shown in the World Cup 50 over cricket is superior in the world of short form. And none of it compares to Tests.
